So, a friend of mine inquired about making a hope chest. I had never made anything like this before, so I took to the 'net' for inspiration. I wish I could take credit for the initial design, but the inspiration for this piece came from Jon Peters of Jon Peters Art & Home. A fine design and I figured it was a perfect level of class and detail.
The chest is made from birch plywood, poplar, and alder wood mouldings, all of which was picked up at the local home center. The finish is General Finishes Georgian Cherry (two applications) with finish coats of Armor-Seal.
The project took longer than expected, as I mainly worked on it in my free time on the weekends, but it was finished and delivered by Christmas. Enjoy!
